Satisfying cravings, one click at a time! 😉 Ohmygod, y’all… This black olive, rosemary, and garlic focaccia, is a work of edible art, waiting for my kids to come home hungry — and my house smells AMAZING.
There’s nothing like getting my fingers in some dough to bring me home to myself, no matter what else is going on in the world.
And really, it bears repeating… is there anything better than the smell of baking bread??
Paired with this beautiful linen kitchen towel from @emilyruthprints (of course!), it’s a little glimpse of my passion for food and photography coming together.

It’s 50&beyond self-portrait loop day!
okay, I’ll admit that I was tempted to caption this something serene and effortless …like “a moment in the autumn sun” …
but that’s not the reality of self-portrait sessions 😝 - at least not for me!
It was more like an hour and a half in various spots on the porch and in the yard, 184 shots (Yes, literally. ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FOUR, most out of focus, many ill-timed), lens changes at least 7 times, infinitely adjusting the angle of the camera on the tripod, equipment malfunctions at the worst times, trying and trying and trying again to get the right focus with my manual lensbaby lens, so many *ALMOSTwhatIwant* photos.
And I ended up with this photo which DOES say what I wanted to say about taking a moment in the sun, self-care of simplest sort, holding my heart gently, and allowing myself space.
So was it worth all the time and hair-pulling frustration?
Yes. Yes, it was. Yes, it always is.
Because it’s not just about the product. It’s the process, of making time to record this moment in life, of looking at myself with kindness, of patiently listening and breathing and readjusting. And the practice of those things, so I can do them in other areas of life as well.
